When it comes to massaging someone, I believe it’s 50% technical skills and 50% way of being. Touch is a powerful communication tool because your thoughts and feelings can transfer when you touch someone. So please don’t underestimate the power of what’s in your brain.
When you massage your partner, first connect with both hands on your partner and breathe together by matching your partner’s breathing pattern. Quiet your mind and think of at least one thing that you love or appreciate about the partner you are massaging. You can do this when you hug your partner too.
If you have nagging thoughts about your partner put them on hold or throw them out of your brain for the few minutes you massage your partner. It’s not like you are giving full 60 minutes. It’s just the few minutes. If you can’t think of anything that you love or appreciate about the partner you are massaging, you may need a different kind of therapy.
