Last week I showed how to “sponge” someone’s hand. This week I’m showing you how to “trench” a hand. To trench you slide your finger between the extension of the finger bones on the top of the hand. You trench the valley between the extension of the finger bones. Go up and down one at a time. Trench all four spaces between the fingers.
According to my acupuncturist friend, when you massage the webbing of the fingers it helps to recover from tiredness. There is a big webbing between the thumb and the index finger. You may find it very tight and tender to the receiver. When you massage this area, it helps to relieve the sore, stiff neck. However, there is an acupressure point to induce labor in this area. If you are massaging someone who is pregnant or trying to get pregnant, you should avoid massaging this area.
Happy Massaging!
