How to make your massage more comfortable if you have lower back pain

Many people come in with lower back pain. I would say it’s one of the most popular areas after neck & shoulder and upper back. Massage definitely helps to alleviate the lower back pain and it’s important that you are comfortable during the massage. This week I’ll show how to make your massage more comfortable if you have a lower back pain.

If you have a discomfort in lower back lying face down, use a bolster under the ankle. This will alleviate the pressure to the lower back. But unless you are a massage therapist you probably don’t have a bolster so just use a cushion or pillow to raise the feet. Of course if this bothers the lower back more or hurts your knee, don’t do this. If you have a discomfort in lower back lying face up on your back put a bolster under the knee. Again this helps to alleviate the pressure to the lower back. Use a cushion or pillow instead if you don’t have a bolster.

Happy Massaging!
