Hands-free shin massage | How to massage your own shin

I have been doing a new exercise and my shin muscles are sore. My hands are tired too. So this week I’m going to show you how I’ve been massaging my own shin muscles without using hands.

Sit or lie on the floor with the leg extended. Use the heel of your other leg to massage the shin muscles. I’m having to go deeper so I use the ankle bone on the outside instead of the heel. You can do short strokes in the direction of the muscles fibers which run along the shin bone. Or do cross-fiber perpendicular to the muscle fibers.

When the massaging leg get tired, have the receiving leg do the work. Leave the ankle bone on the sore spot and move the foot up and down, side to side, or rotate the foot. You can clearly see and feel that your shin muscles are used to move your foot.
