Mother’s Day is in few weeks. Tangible gifts are of course nice but according to some studies many people think experience gifts are more unique and memorable than tangible gifts. So the next few weeks I’m going to share some Mother’s Day experience gift ideas that you can easily implement at home to pamper her at very low cost.
This week I’m going to share a Milk Rose Bath. According to Wikipedia, “It is said that Cleopatra, Queen of Ancient Egypt, took baths in ass milk to preserve the beauty and youth of her skin. Legend has it that no less than 700 asses were needed to provide the quantity of milk necessary for her daily bath.” It’s weird to be saying this word but by ass they mean donkey. Luckily you don’t have to have 700 donkeys to enjoy your milk bath today.
Fill the tub with hot water. Pour a half gallon of milk to the bath. I would warm the milk in a pan first because a cold milk would lower the water temperature. Fats and proteins in the milk help moisturize your skin. Lactic acid in milk helps shedding dead skin cells and revealing the newer and softer skin. Opt for the whole milk for fats and proteins. If you drink low-fat or non-fat milk, don’t worry, you will not get fat from bathing in the whole milk bath. Adding more milk won’t hurt. If Cleopatra soaked in pure milk and she was the most beautiful woman in the world, why not?
Sprinkle some rose petals in the tub. Ancient Greeks and Romans used rose to perfume their baths. Rose petals look pretty and smell nice. Rose is also anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory, moisturizing, and has mood-lifting properties. If you don’t have rose in your garden, head to the grocery store or florist. Sometimes you can find rose flowers and petals without stems cheaper than the bouquet of roses. This one was $6.99 and the bouquet was $12.99. This is a perfect option for making a fancy rose bath since you do not need the stems.
Milk and rose are also good for hair and scalp especially if you have scaly scalp. You are welcome to dip your head in the milk rose bath.
When it is dark, our bodies are programmed to release a hormone called melatonin, which promotes relaxation and sleep. Decrease the amount of light or use candles for lighting to achieve deeper relaxation. Candles are very inexpensive. You can even get 100 tea light candles at Ikea for $3.49. While she’s taking the milk rose bath, why not bring some chocolate dipped strawberries to pamper her taste buds? The bakery I go to has it for $1.50 a piece. Check your local Costco because some Costcos do carry them for special times like Valentine’s Day and Mother’s Day.
If she has some aches and pains in her muscles you can also add some Epsom salt as long as she doesn’t have diabetes. The magnesium and sulfate in the Epsom salt will help soothe the muscle aches and eliminate toxins. If you have diabetes, do NOT soak in the Epsom salt bath. This whole bag of Epsom salt is $3.69 at Target.
Follow the nice bath with a nice massage. If you want to see how to give a nice massage from head to toe you can check out other videos on my channel or download the free video ebook below.
So here’s the cost of this Mother’s Day experience gift:
