Can I get massage everyday?
Massage is wonderful because it’s relaxing, it takes away aches and pains, improves immune system, you sleep better and the list goes on. So should you get massage every day? Well, it depends on what kind of massage you get and your tolerance level to the particular type of massage.
You do have to be careful because massage releases toxins and lactic acid buildup from the muscles into the bloodstream. That’s why some people feel under the influence or even nauseous after the massage. You need to keep flushing out the toxins out of your system. When you get a shallow, fluffy Swedish massage you may not feel it that much but when you get deeper massage your body may have soreness after the massage. It is normal and it should go away in a day or two.
When I was going to a massage school I took Deep Tissue, Shiatsu, and Thai Massage all at the same time. These modalities all affect the body at deep layers and your body can be sore very easily. These classes were 100 hours each and I had a class every single day for about nine weeks. That means I was getting a deep massage every day for nine weeks because we practice on each other in the class. I love deep tissue massage and it was very exciting in the beginning but after about five weeks I just could not take it anymore. My body was so sore that I didn’t want anyone to touch my body for one week.
Massage is also a powerful energy exchange. Five weeks of different people touching me every day was just way too much for my body to handle.
So that’s how I learned at first hand that you have to give your body a break from deep massages. I do not recommend getting deep massage every day. I would wait for a few days between the sessions for the body to adjust to the changes.
Bob Hope had massage every day for 60 something years. I don’t know what kind of massage he was getting but he attributed his daily massage to his well being and he lived to be 100. So if you want to live a long life, you might want to give it a try if you can afford it.
Happy Massaging!
