Hi everyone. I am Yasuko and it’s time for Massage Monday. I got a new light here. I don’t know if you can tell. I got a ring light. Anyways, I have been studying the benefits of ear massage. There are lot of things you can do to your ears. This week I’m going to demonstrate the ear rubs. Not the kind that I’ve done before based on the ear reflexology. This is more of lymph drainage and also you’ll be touching the acupressure points around the ears. And I will talk about all kinds of benefits that come with it.
What I like about ear massage is it’s so simple and easy and your ears are exposed and very accessible. You can do this while you are driving, I mean when you stop at the light, while you’re watching TV, while you are sitting on the throne in the bathroom, at the airport, on the beach, basically, anywhere, any time. And it doesn’t take much time.
Do the Star Trek’s “Live long and prosper” hands. Caress up the V around your ears and gently caress down the jaw. Do this 100 times. There is no need to put a pressure. Just use the entire surface of the palm and fingers. I’m going to do this on both sides at the same time but you can also do it one side at a time.
Here is how it looks from the sides.
Now the benefits of this ear rub as I’ve read. It will alleviate dizziness, vertigo, ringing in ears or tinnitus, sudden loss of hearing, headache, eye strain, dry eye, deteriorating eyesight, TMJ, neck pain, shoulder pain, frozen shoulder, numbness in arms, back pain, low back pain, knee pain, constipation, insomnia, stress and depression.
It’s pretty amazing just from rubbing around the ears. But it makes sense because as you rub behind the ears you are touching the acupressure points around the ears which I have covered in the video for tinnitus.
There are also lymph nodes around the ears and down the neck so you are promoting the lymphatic drainage. And there are arteries that feed the blood flow to the brain so you are improving circulation to the control center of your body.
Depending on the severity, some people feel a difference right away while others may feel the difference after months of doing this. It is recommended to do 100 ear rubs twice a day but there is no known side effects if you do more.
It takes about 100 seconds to do 100 times of this. 1 per second pace.
I have a request. I’m looking for volunteers to try this every day for 1 month and share with me any kind of results.
