Another way to save your thumbs

Last week I showed you how to save your thumbs when you give massage because sore thumbs are the number one complaint in giving massage. Then I was massaging my client and it dawned on me that I didn’t cover another technique so I wanted to share it with you before I forget which is to double up your thumbs.

There are two ways of doing this. One way is to put the two thumbs next to each other. For example, put the two supported thumbs next to each other and press. Or put the two straight thumbs next to each other and glide.

The other way is to overlap the thumbs. You can overlap the supported thumbs to press. Play with the angle so it’s easy on your body. Or overlap the straight thumbs and press or glide.

So if your thumbs feel weak, try doubling up your thumbs. Remember to keep the V and move the entire arm if you use straight thumbs. For more you can watch the Massage Monday from last week here: http://youtu.be/CuDf8jAqy4w
