This week I will share acupressure points to help burn fat around your abdomen and lose weight.
There are two acupressure points that are very easy to remember and I’ll share a new way to press these points.
CV 12 (中脘) – The first one is Central Vessel 12 or CV 12. It is located four finger widths up from the belly button. This acupressure point is effective for burning body fat as well as normalizing stress related digestive issues such as nervous stomach, heartburn and diarrhea.
Press gently with your finger. I like to use my middle finger supported by my index and ring finger. Cover it with the other hand. And gently shake or circle for 10 seconds. This movement will help loosen the fascia and fat around the abdomen for easier elimination as you stimulate the acupressure point.
CV 4 (関元）– The second one is Central Vessel 4 or CV 4. It is located four finger widths down from the belly button. This point is also known as Dan Tien and it’s gets your energy going and makes your body warmer. When your body is warmer, but not too hot, it’s easier to burn body fat.
Again, press gently with your finger. Cover it with the other hand. And gently shake or circle for 10 seconds. You will notice your abdomen is warmed by the hand heat too.
You can press these points lying on your bed or sitting in a chair whenever you want. But it is recommended to do this in the morning when you are still in bed. Avoid pressing these points when your stomach is full. Wait for at least 30 minutes to an hour after you eat.
This press and shake concept is new to me but I kind of like it because I like the multi-tasking aspect of pressing the acupressure point while loosening the fascia and fat. Loosening the fascia helps you to correct your posture too so you are not stuck in this bad posture. A bad posture not only makes you look fat with your belly sticking out but it also compresses your organs internally causing poor digestion and weight gain.
Your fat you’ve accumulated over time doesn’t disappear overnight. Try this 3-5 times everyday for 3 weeks. I’ve read some people have the result in one week. You are welcome to combine this with a cellulite massage or acupressure to reduce hunger.
Attitude-wise, I think it’s better to accept your body because what you have is the result of what you have done and what you haven’t done. And try to let go of what you no longer need and part ways peacefully instead of trying to kill it with hatred.
