This week I’m going to show acupressure points for sore throat.
For the first set of points, first find your Adam’s apple. From the top edge of the Adam’s apple go horizontally to the neck muscle called Sternocleidomastoid.
The first point is in front of the Sternocleidomastoid. This is called Stomach 9 or ST 9 (人迎). You will feel the pulse here.
The second point is on the other side of the Sternocleidomastoid. This is called Small Intestine 16 or SI 16 (天窓). Gently press these points for one minute as you breathe deeply.
For the next set of points, find your Adam’s apple again. From the bottom edge of the Adam’s apple go horizontally to Sternocleidomastoid again.
The third point is in front of the same neck muscle. This is called Stomach 10 or ST 10 (水突).
The fourth point is on the other side of the Sternocleidomastoid. This is called Large Intestine 17 or LI 17 (天鼎). Again gently press these points for one minute as you breathe deeply.
When you press these points do it one side at a time because when you do both sides at the same time you will be choking yourself and you will feel your head and face swelling up.
The next one is right above the sternum in the middle. This is called Conception Vessel 22 or CV 22. (天突). Slightly hook your finger and press this point in and slightly downward instead of straight in to choke yourself.
The last one is in the depression between the two heads of Sternocleidomastoid right above the collar bone. These are called Stomach 11 or ST 11. (気舎). You can press these points on both sides at the same time.
Press these points for one minute as you breathe deeply. Be careful not to press too hard since this is a delicate area.
