Acupressure Points for Varicose Veins

Per viewer’s request this week I’ll show you some acupressure points for varicose veins. Varicose veins are the visible swollen veins that you see on your legs. They are caused by the failed valve inside the vein which doesn’t close all the way. As a result, the blood that should be pumped back to the heart backflows, gets accumulated inside the vein and the vein gets swollen.

Once you have a failed valve you cannot reverse it unfortunately. There are medical procedures that you can consult with doctors. You can however try to prevent it from getting worse by improving the circulation on your leg.

These acupressure points will help improve the blood flow on your legs. Press these points as you breathe deeply for one minute as long as you are not on the varicose veins. Do NOT put direct pressure on the varicose veins.

懸鐘 (GB39) – Find the outer ankle bone. Go up four fingers. This is called Gall Bladder 39 or GB 39. Press with a hooked thumb or the pad of the thumb if you have a long fingernail.

陰陵泉 (SP9) – Follow the shin bone on the inside towards the knee. It’s on the bone where it curves. You should feel a distinct sensation when you press this point. This is called Spleen 9 or SP 9. Again press with a hooked thumb or the pad of the thumb if you have a long fingernail.

承山 (UB57) – The next one is on the back of the leg. Point your toe and it’s right under the calf muscle in the center. This is called Urinary Bladder 57 or UB 57. Press with a hooked thumb or the pad of the thumb if you have a long fingernail.

Thanks for watching. I’ll see you back next week. Make it a great week. Feel free to comment below and please don’t forget to subscribe.
