Acupressure Points for Seasonal Allergies/Hay Fever

This week I’m going to show you acupressure points for seasonal allergies or hay fever.

Hi everyone, I am Yasuko and it’s time for Massage Monday. It’s spring time and I know many people are suffering from seasonal allergies or hay fever. This week I will show you acupressure points for seasonal allergies from pollen or hey fever for your eyes and nose.

But pressing acupressure points while you still have allergens doesn’t do you much. Make sure you have clean hands and fingers. If you have just come back from outside, besides washing your hands and fingers, I would wash your face, inside of your nose, hair, change your clothes and clean your shoes if you were exposed to a lot of pollen.

For eye issues, there are four points around the eyes on both sides.

UB 1 晴明 – The first one is between the inner edge of your eye and the bridge of your nose. This is called Urinary Bladder 1 or UB 1 . This point is good for clearing the eyes as well as clearing nose.

Extra Head/Neck 4 魚腰 – The second one is in the middle of your eye brow. Slightly press it upwards. This is called Extra Head/Neck 4 and is not on the major meridian. This point is good for redness and puffy eyes.

Taiyo 太陽 – The third one is in the depression in the temple. This is an extra point not on the major meridian. This is called Taiyo in Japanese. This point is good for pain, swelling and redness of the eyes.

ST 1 承泣 – The fourth one is right under the pupil of your eye on the bottom eyelid. This is called Stomach 1 or . This point is good for itchy and watery eyes.

For nose issues I will show you two acupressure points.

Third Eye 印堂 – The first one is between the eyebrows. This is called Governing Vessel 24.5 or GV 24.5 but it’s commonly known as the Third Eye. This point is good for clearing the stuffy nose as well as itchy eyes.

LI 20 迎香 – The second one is right next to the nostril. This is called Large Intestine 20. This point is good for clearing stuffy nose and runny nose.

Gently press any of these points by themselves or multiple of them at the same time and hold it for one minute as you breathe deeply. For example, here I’m pressing the points that work for both eyes and nose issues.

And here I’m pressing the three points for eyes. And here I had to be creative to press all four points around the eyes.

I hope this is helpful.
