Acupressure Points for Melasma

Per viewer’s request this week I am going to show you three acupressure points that are good for Melasma. These points are known to lighten up the tone of your face.

UB 1 (B1) – The first one is right next to the inner edge of your eye. This is called Urinary Bladder 1 or Bladder 1. You can press both sides at the same time with your thumb and index finger or use your index fingers.

UB 2 (B2) – The second one is in the depression where the bridge of the nose and the inner edge of your eyebrow meet. This is called Urinary Bladder 2 or Bladder 2. Again you can press both sides at the same time with your thumb and index finger or use your index fingers.

CV 24 (Ren 24) – The third one is in the depression right under the lower lip in the middle. This is called Conception Vessel 24 or sometimes Ren 24.

Gently press these points for up to one minute as you breathe deeply. Since face is a very delicate area don’t press too hard to a degree that it leaves the finger marks on your face.

Unlike sunspots which are caused by sun exposures, Melasma is caused more from hormonal changes which can be caused by high stress. Also your skin color can turn darker and these spots appear when your liver is not functioning well. Liver is your detox center. When your toxins are not processed well they can show up on your skin surface. It will help to be nice to your liver by cutting your alcohol, fat, or sugar intake so your liver doesn’t have to work so hard. And having a good sleep is very important. Beauty sleep is also important to improve your metabolism and skin cell turnover because your growth hormones are produced while you sleep.
