Acupressure for TMJ

This week I’m going to show you acupressure for TMJ. Press these points for up to 5 seconds at a time and do 5 sets.

聴宮 (SI 19) The first point is in front of the tragus or the little prominence of the ear and it’s where the depression is when you open your mouth. This is called Small Intestine 19 or SI 19. Gently press these points on both sides with your mouth open but not too much. Just a little bit.

下関 (ST 7) The next one is a depression under the cheek bone. Follow the lower edge of the cheek bone from the ear and you will feel a depression which is about three finger width from the ear. This is called Stomach 7 or ST 7. Press these points on both sides with your mouth closed.

Besides index finger you can use your middle finger supported by the index and ring finger.

頬車 (ST 6) The next one is between the ear lobe and the tip of the lower jaw bone and one finger width to the front. It pops up when you clinch your jaws. This is called Stomach 6 or ST 6. Press these points on both sides.

Again besides index finger you can use your middle finger supported by the index and ring finger.

翳風 (TH 17) The last point is the depression right behind the ear lobe. This is called Triple Heater 17 or TH 17. Gently press these points on both sides.

I hope this is helpful. I will do how to massage for TMJ soon so stay tuned.

Thanks for watching. I’ll see you back next week. Make it a great week. Feel free to comment below and please don’t forget to subscribe.
